QUALIFICATION & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 7–10 years in a similar role.
  • Strong sense of ownership and ability to self-manage.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and take initiative.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Proficient with technology; knowledge of Great Plains and Momentis an asset.
  • Intermediate Excel skills.
  • Bilingual in French and English (written and spoken); English required for supplier communications outside Quebec
Duties / Responsibilities
  • Prepare month-end files, including divisional financial statements, in a timely manner.
  • Perform financial statements analytical review of actuals versus projections versus last year.
  • Manage and prepare the annual budget including:
  • Working with department heads to complete budget templates
  • Feeding into the projected financial statements
  • Ensuring the reasonability of all aspects of the budget
  • Reporting on actuals versus budget and obtain related variance explanations
  • Serve as key resource for upper management for answering questions on budgets and all financials.
  • Conduct gross margin analyses
  • Conduct GL analyses and do prepare schedule to backup month end reporting
  • Post journal entries and perform related reconciliations as required including month end sales, AR, AP Inventory, accruals, etc.
  • Complete Canadian and U.S. bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly GST, QST, and HST returns.
  • Recommend, establish and maintain internal controls.
  • Complete quarterly licensing reports.
  • Ensure that intercompany balances are reconciled as part of the month end
  • Lead and manage preparation of year-end and government audit files; liaise with auditors.
  • Produce other reports as required.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
